The Instructional Media Center (IMC) may close for special programs and events.
Lunch Hours: Students may come to the IMC during lunch, provided there are no classes scheduled. Students must sign-in and pick-up a pass from theIMC between the hours of 7:35 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. the day they would like to attend. Students that come during lunch must remain in the IMC until the end of the lunch period.
Food/Drink: Food, gum and beverages of any kind are not permitted in the IMC.
The Instructional Media Center is the information center of the school. The goal of the IMC is to provide a place for all students and staff to collaborate, work independently, locate resources and receive academic support. The IMC reflects the philosophy and goals of the Board of Education and supports the principles of intellectual freedom inherent in the First Amendment of the United States Constitution.
The Jonathan Dayton Instructional Media Center collection has over 11,000 books and videos for student and faculty use. Additionally, the JDHS-IMC subscribes to a variety of subscription databases which cover all subject areas. To access the subscription databases, please pick up a password sheet in the IMC.
Check-out and Overdue Fine Policy: Students are allowed to check out a maximum of 3 books at any given time provided there are no any outstanding and/or overdue fines. Books are checked out for a period of three weeks and may be renewed once. Reference Books cannot be checked. The fine for an overdue library book is 20 cents a day. If a book is lost or damaged, the student is responsible for the cost of the replacement book and any overdue fine. Students may not receive their end of the year report cards or diploma (for seniors) until all fines are paid.
Library Services: The IMC has 2 community printers, which can be accessed by student laptops via the wireless network, as long as they have their student ID handy.
Follett Destiny is our online catalogue used for locating books and resources in the IMC. Destiny is available for students to browse books in print and e-book format. Students can login to Destiny and read e-books. See Ms. Reynolds for the login credentials.
