Welcome! The Springfield Public Schools Human Resource /Professional Development Department is responsible for collecting, organizing and managing the data related to every employee or potential employee of the Springfield Public Schools. The process begins with recruitment and advertising employment opportunities and continues as a candidate is recommended for appointment to a position and appointed by the Board of Education. The Human Resource department ensures that employees are provided with appropriate compensation and any other necessary information related to the specific position, and the department works closely with the Payroll Department to ensure that all records are accurate and according to negotiated agreements.
The Human Resource Department also maintains records such as participation in professional development activities, attendance including personal leave, sick leave, vacation leave and other temporary and extended leaves of absence. Records are managed for all teachers and administrators, substitutes, secretaries, nurses, custodians and paraprofessionals. This department is also responsible for all paperwork, providing mentors, and training for new teachers during their provisional year. All concerns with certification are investigated through Human Resources.
