Dear Parents and Guardians,
Welcome to the Springfield Public Schools Registration Portal!
We are proud to share a streamlined process for online registration for students new to our district. Please read through the information below in order to have the smoothest experience possible.
Important Registration Notes:
You must be a parent or legal guardian to register a new student
As specified in Board of Education Policy No. 5111, kindergarten enrollments must be 5 years of age by October 1 of the enrollment year. Grade 1 students must be 6 years old by October 1 of the enrollment year (click here to view policy 5111)
The student must be domiciled in Springfield, New Jersey (Union County) to attend our schools.
As you move through the forms, the system will automatically save the information you entered. You may exit the online registration tool at any time, and your documentation should be saved.
If you have any students already enrolled in our district, the same online process applies to register any new sibling(s). Once registration is completed, the new student record will be linked to your existing OnCourse Connect portal account.
If you have a student you are re-enrolling (the student was already enrolled at any time or school within our district), please contact the school secretary.
Our online registration tool will require you to download specific forms related to your residency and child’s medical information. Please look closely at each of the forms, as some must be downloaded, completed, and signed by you and/or your student’s doctor before you can upload them.
After completing the “Residency Forms” section of the online forms, please move to the forms that are specific to the school your child will attend, as noted in the image below. You are not expected to complete the forms for any of the other schools.
The following documents will be requested as a part of the online registration and verification process. While the data is secured and encrypted, if you feel uncomfortable for any reason providing any of these forms virtually, you may proceed without uploading the forms and you will be required to provide them during a scheduled verification appointment.
Official & original birth certificate of the registering student(s)
You will be asked to provide four proofs of residency:
Current immunization record (Required Health Forms)
Transcripts/report cards are required for placement at the middle and high schools and requested by the elementary schools.
Special circumstances that may require additional documentation:
If Parents/Guardians live at more than one residence, regardless of which parent has legal custody, court documentation of the custody agreement must be supplied.
If Legal Guardian, court documentation of guardianship is required.
Affidavits required for registrants living with Springfield homeowners, renters, no lease, etc. Please contact the school’s registrar for specific forms.
For students registering in grades 3 to 5, please check the list of school attendance zones, to determine which of the two schools listed below your student(s) will attend.(https://www.springfieldschools.com/docs/district/Online Registration/School Zones for Grades 3 to 5 R2.pdf).
Thelma L. Sandmeier Elementary School, Grades 3-5

James Caldwell Elementary School, Grades 3-5

Please note that your child's registration for the current school year will not be finalized without all required information. All information is saved as you proceed through the registration portal.
Go to https://www.oncourseconnect.com/registration/8235 to create a Registration Gateway account, and enter your child’s and family information.
A checklist at the end of the process will alert you to the documents/information required to complete your registration.
Once you have completed your online registration, or if you have any questions along the way, please email the appropriate school registrar:

b. James Caldwell School (Grades 3-5)
c. Thelma Sandmeier Elementary School (Grades 3-5)
