Community Letter 01/07/2021

Springfield Public Schools Headear

January 7, 2021

Dear Springfield Public Schools Community:

I hope that you enjoyed a restful holiday break and a smooth transition back into the remote school experience.

Yesterday, January 6, 2021, was deeply challenging for our nation.  For our children and our community, it serves as a reminder of the importance and the strength of our country and our democracy.  We also recognize that this is occurring during a time of deep anxiety for our community, our nation, and the world.  For those of you looking for support in discussing these events with your children, we are sharing a few resources below that may be helpful to you and your family.  Our teachers are working to support thoughtful and respectful dialogue, while also recognizing the emotions and anxiety that impact our students.   Finally, if you or your children need to talk through the feelings and concerns of the current events, please do not hesitate to reach out to your school guidance counselor, you can find their contact information here: https://www.springfieldschools.com/Content2/68.

Sincerely,

Rachel Goldberg
