Community Update 9/17/2021: Travel Protocols

September 17, 2021

Dear Springfield Public Schools Community,

The purpose of this letter is to remind families about the travel protocols in the district.

Springfield Public Schools requires proof of a negative COVID-19 test for all unvaccinated students between days 3-5 upon returning from international travel. Additionally, unvaccinated students must quarantine for a full 7 days prior to returning to in-person instruction. Fully vaccinated students or those who have fully recovered from COVID-19 within the last 90 days, do not have to quarantine after international travel with documentation of the date of the positive test.  It is still recommended that vaccinated students who travel internationally get tested 3-5 days after returning to the United States as an added layer of precaution.

For more information related to travel, please visit the CDC website https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019-ncov/travelers/testing-international-air-travelers.html

Please know this guidance is subject to change, and we will alert you if there are any changes to our procedures with regard to travel.

Thank you,
