Community Update - Referendum Approved!

March 15th, 2023

Dear Springfield Public Schools Community,

We are excited to share that yesterday, despite the terrible weather, our community showed up to vote, and overwhelmingly approved the two questions on the ballot!  The preliminary results as of Tuesday night included 1311 votes in favor and 376 opposed for Question 1 and 1201 votes in favor and 479 opposed for Question 2. The totals will change over the next few days as officials count mail-in ballots that were postmarked by the election date and verify provisional ballots.

We deeply appreciate the time you have devoted to learning about the proposal and sharing information with your friends and neighbors over these last few months. Your efforts played an instrumental role in informing the community and encouraging them to vote.

As we move forward, our website will continue to evolve to share our progress toward the critical repairs for our district’s infrastructure such as safety and security upgrades at all five schools, bathroom renovations to improve plumbing and sewer systems, heating and ventilation systems updates and air conditioning, plus refreshed spaces, which include the high school and middle school gyms and rooms used for art and music education at both the high school and middle school. Please check the website for updates on the vote tally and projects.

Thank you for voting for the future of Springfield Public Schools!
