Voicemail Instructions
Welcome to the Springfield Public Schools voicemail system! The information below will help guide you through the set-up options of your voicemail. Please have your assigned voicemail extension (ID) and be prepared to chose a numerical code for your password (PIN). The PIN must be at least 4-digits long, easy to remember and difficult for others to guess.
FROM A SCHOOL PHONE
- Dial 1770 and immediately press * - For office phones, dial 1771 and go to step 2
You will be prompted to "Enter your ID followed by the pound sign"
- Enter your ID, which is your 4 digit phone extension, and press #
You will be prompted to "Enter your PIN followed by the pound sign"
- Enter 1234, which is your initial pin, and press # (NOTE: if you've accessed your voicemail before, 1234 is not your PIN)
- You will be prompted with "Welcome to Cisco Unity…"
- Listen carefully and follow prompts to:
- use the system name announcement or record your own name at the tone,
- change your pin, and
- select yes for directory listing.
This completes the enrollment process.
If you would like to create a custom greeting, repeat steps 1-3 and follow the prompts to record the greeting.
To change your pin at any time from within the district, after the initial set-up, follow the steps below:
- Dial 1770* to access the voicemail system - Office phones dial 1771 and go to step 3
- Enter your ID (extension) and press #
- Enter your default PIN (1234) or your current PIN
- Press 4 for set-up options, then
- Press 3 for preferences & finally
- Press 1 to change your PIN and enter a new 4 digit PIN followed by # (you will need to enter your new PIN again to confirm)
FROM A HOME PHONE (or any other external phone, including cell phone)
- To set-up your new voicemail from home, dial 973.376.1025 and and immediately press *
You will be prompted to "Enter your ID followed by the pound sign"
- Enter your ID, which is your 4 digit phone extension, and press #
You will be prompted to "Enter your PIN followed by the pound sign"
- Enter 1234, which is your initial pin, and press #
You will be prompted with "Welcome to Cisco Unity…"
- Listen carefully and follow prompts to:
- use the system name announcement or record your own name at the tone,
- change your pin, and
- select yes for directory listing.
This completes the enrollment process.
A new feature of the system is receiving your voice mail in your email inbox. If you listen to the last new voice mail in your inbox, it will turn off the red message indicator light on your phone.
